This season the team will be led by Arron Brook (Azza), taking over from Sam Wilby (who is looking to put more focus on his individual game - including taking the keeping gloves) this season.
The 2nd team have a slightly new look side, which will include new signings Leo Kelsall (YCC College & Cumbria u18) and George Bedford-Walker (signed from Wrenthorpe - and also with YCCC College).
We also have a couple of our talented juniors joining the squad for the season, including Ammar Mirwan, a talented left arm spinner / batsman and Tom Shuttleworth, who has worked hard through the winter on his batting and seam bowling. Both lads earning a place in the squad, giving them much needed experience at senior cricket and being in and around some of our more senior players, who can help the lads develop in their game.
Last year’s opening bowler Reece Clarke has earnt a well-deserved promotion to the 1st XI, and the lads all wish him every success for 2026 and beyond.
A couple of departures from last season include league wicket keeper award winner Nick Rushworth, who has rejoined Woodlands with his son Alex. Umar Zubair and Fahad Khan have also rejoined their previous club Bowling Old Lane for the new season. Go well chaps.
Best of luck to Azza and the 2nd team this year.
Please get down to support the boys on their opening game of the season Vs Jer Lane on Saturday 18th April and throughout the season.
